Summer Mission FAQs

 What is the timeframe for the summer Mission?

Summer Mission dates are June 16th to July 13th.

• Dates do not include travel. Expect 1-2 days before and after the mission dates, depending on your location. All students must be available for the entire summer mission. You may not arrive late or leave early.

How do I get to the Philippines?

• MK2MK arranges all of the flights for the students. We arrange our MKs into travel groups to minimize the amount of time that a minor is traveling without a guardian. Our travel coordinator will be in contact with you to verify all itineraries before they are booked. We will have US and international hubs where we will meet students and then fly with them to the Philippines. 

What does Summer Mission in The Philippines look like?

The summer mission in The Philippines is focused on discipling and empowering our MKs in their walks with God and their personal growth, while also focusing on learning about and serving the needs of the local community. In the Philippines we’ll partner with an amazing church, Christ Centered Fellowship. Through this partnership you will get to be involved in a mixture of kids ministry, youth ministry (leading games, talks, etc.), evangelism (sharing our faith and our personal testimony) and community service.

For internal ministry, we have bible studies, small groups, and worship and prayer. We also do fun outings as a way to bond.

Where will I be living?

• We typically live in a conference/retreat center called LS Training Center.

Will I have access to Wi-Fi or be able to contact family?

• Once a week you will be able to contact your family and access the internet.

What do I raise support for?

Developing a team of ministry partners is part of the mk2mk summer mission experience and takes discipline and work. The support goal for Summer Mission includes airfare to and from The Philippines, as well as housing, food, and transportation.

Are there any resources to help me raise support?

• YES, you’ll be given a support coach and a packet with sample letters and guidelines.

Do I need to bring extra spending money?

• YES, we recommend that you bring $100 for personal snacks, souvenirs, and gifts for teammates.

How will this trip help me grow in my faith?

Summer Mission will prepare you for a lifetime of walking with the Lord. You are very important to God and all of us at mk2mk. This is an opportunity to own your faith and develop skills and relationships to enable you to flourish throughout your life.

• You will be part of helping to fulfill the Great Commission and living out the Great Commandment.

• Summer Mission will allow you to experience community in service with other MKs.

What is the pre-work? How long does pre-work take/how long/hours?

The pre-work is heart preparation for the summer. This helps ensure all students are spiritually and mentally prepared for a month of ministry service.

The pre-work includes;

• A one-on-one coaching call 

• Reading a devotional

• Writing out your personal MK story
