First things First...

There are two main sources of info for your preparations for this project:

1) THIS WEBSITE is your key link to info and helps for this specific mk project.

  • Notice the ETHIOPIA 2010 menu box to the upper left.
  • Check for updates regularly and READ IT ALL! We try hard to only post what is essential and helpful so read it thoroughly.
  • Key terms and topics are highlighted and linked – there is even a glossary of some new terms we are using.
  • Also there is a Deadline Calendar and frequent Updates to direct you to key deadlines and the Newest Postings information.

2) http://mpd.uscm.org/ is the generic summer project resource website.

  • This is the link included in your acceptance email from gosummer.
  • It has some awesome interactive tools for you.  More on that later but most importantly

if you see a contradiction between the info we post on the mk2mk.org site and the gosummer site THEN ALWAYS DEFAULT TO OUR SITE’S INFO.

Our site is concerned with only ONE specific summer project-yours.  (gosummer is the resource site for hundreds of CCC summer projects –mostly for college students)

Having said that…

READ ALL of the FOLLOWING and only then proceed with the following immediate action points:

1) WRITING your first draft support letter and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it within 2 weeks.

  • It will be proofed and sent back to you as soon as possible.
  • Use the letter writing tool on the gosummer link or draft your own.
  • DO NOT SEND ANY LETTERS UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PROOFED AND APPROVED.

2) CHECK your passport expiration date.

  • It must be good until 6 months AFTER the project ENDS.
  • If needed renew it.
  • Refer to the Travel and Flight info section

Now, sorry to assign you homework, but get reading!

This WebGuide is designed to help you succeed in

  • Funding your project
  • Preparing your heart for the project
  • Getting you vital info
  • Equipping you for the project

Follow these instructions to make the most out of your step-by-step project preparations.

1. Read through these guide pages.

Just do it! It’s important to become familiar with the project and the responsibilities, dates, and requirements of the project. And your coach (to be assigned to you) is going to ask you if you have!  Weekly updates will be posted.

2. Ask your parent(s) to read this Guide.

It is important that they are informed about your project participation but they are not responsible for any of your tasks. They have their own Parent's section with much of this same information.

3. Check for updates Daily

Updates will be posted regularly from the MK2MK office and the project director. These updates will contain the most recent and accurate information, including:

  • Project dates and finances, readjusted estimated figures (should they be adjusted).
  • Other important information specific to your project.

4. Deadlines.

Look over the Calendar

  • Keep the deadlines! Just do it! This is absolutely critical.
  • Consider your school schedule (i.e. homework, finals, extracurricular activities, etc.)
  • Ask questions of your parents, youth leader, or CCC staff if you need help with the items on the check list.

5. Find faithful prayer partners.

  • Prayer support is just as important as financial support.
  • Find five individuals who will commit to pray daily for you. Do this ASAP.
  • Have people pray for you as you:
    1. develop your ministry partners
    2. prepare to go
    3. during the project.

Record the names and contact numbers of your prayer partners somewhere and keep in your Bible or journal.
